Data Deletion

Last updated May 28, 2026. Parents and legal guardians can ask us to delete account, child profile, uploaded photo, portrait, and generated book data.

How to Request Deletion

1Email privacy@yourstory.app from the parent account email or use the contact page.
2Use the subject line "Data Deletion Request".
3Include the parent account email and the child profile name or nickname to delete.
4Tell us whether you want to delete one child profile, all child profiles, generated books, uploaded photos, or the entire account.
5We may ask for verification before deleting or disclosing account data.
6After verification, we will delete or de-identify covered data within a reasonable period unless retention is legally or operationally required.

Data We Can Delete

Parent account profile information.
Child profiles, including names, ages, traits, and personalization settings.
Uploaded child photos.
Approved child character renders.
Generated personalized book pages and review records where deletion is technically and legally available.
Local reading state, decision history, and app usage information tied to the family account.
Support messages associated with the deletion request, after they are no longer needed.

Data We May Need to Keep

Payment, invoice, tax, fraud-prevention, chargeback, and accounting records that Stripe or Your Story must retain.
Security logs, abuse-prevention records, and legal records that must be kept for compliance or platform protection.
Aggregated or de-identified analytics that no longer identify the parent, child, or family account.
Data we are legally required or permitted to keep for a limited period.

Important Effects of Deletion

Deleting a child profile may permanently remove generated books for that child from the family library.

Deleting uploaded photos or approved portraits may prevent future re-renders or corrections unless a parent uploads a new approved image.

Canceling a subscription and deleting data are separate actions. To stop billing, use the Stripe customer portal or contact support. To remove data, send a deletion request.
